London Expo October 2006

Back from London Expo, feeling more than a little worse for wear. I probably ought to have taken today off work, but I'll just take it easy and drive through it. I must have picked up the lurgy from the sea of geeks, or possibly I'm just exhausted.

Saturday was insane! The place was absolutely packed, and apparently some people couldn't even get in! It was really difficult to walk anywhere, but sales were great as a result! Sunday was much more civilised, but still pretty crazy. There's no doubt that this is the busiest event we've attended so far.

I wasn't able to take any photos at the event because I was rushed off my feet, but thankfully [info]fehed took some good ones, so I've stolen his! ^_~

Sweatdrop's stand was hyoouge but awesome. I think it was our best setup to date. The gigantic banners made it easy to find the table from a distance!

Pink and Blue were for sale for the first time at the event, and sold really well! Fantastic stuff.

Mamoo were there, selling some t-shirts with designs I've made for them. They gave me one of the tees, so I'll take better photos of it at some point. Check out the cut-out of my character in the background! XD

List of spoils:
  • Panda-Z figurine (4" safety bear),

  • a collection of eight "Oh! Super Milk Chan" figures

  • Lament of the Lamb 1+2

  • Erica Sakurasawa "Angel"

  • Dragon Head 3+4

  • and £27 worth of Sweatdrop titles.

It was an awesomely fun event and I'm looking forward to the one in May! It's sad that Expo is probably more exciting now for Sweatdrop than anime cons are, but the event has a great buzz and is easy to get to. I'm looking forward to seeing other people's photos from the event.

Off to London Expo now!

I've got a half-day off work, so I'm going down to London Expo now! I hope to see a bunch of you at the show over the weekend, and I'll try to take plenty of photos. We have Pink and Blue debuting at the Sweatdrop table, so it will be interesting to see how those go down with the customers. There are a ton of people I'm looking forward to catching up with too.

I'm doing a talk on sunday at 2pm, sitting on the publishers panel on behalf of Sweatdrop, with Tokyopop, Markosia and some other publishers. It'll be nice to see some familiar faces in the crowd for that talk. I might be able to record an audio capture of this talk also, so we'll see how that works out in practice.

I'm really excited about Expo! The launch of Pink and Blue, and the presentation of so much hard-work from the whole group. I feel like we're organised and fully prepared for events such as this, and it's wonderful to see it all come together.

Okay, I'm off. See you after the weekend!
